Footy Japan/YC&AC Charity 6's, 21 March, 2006
Yokohama Country & Athletic Club
What a day in the sunshine for the Tokyo CSC
bhoys. A bunch of lads more used to kicking the telly than a football,
and infinitely more talented in scoring pints than goals, managed
to go the day without collapsing from exhaustion, and better still,
even WINNING something! The bhoys went the whole day undefeated, conceding
only a single goal and winning the final of the plate competition
1-0 after being cruelly denied entry to the main finals due to a disallowed
goal. But then it wouldn't be Celtic without a conspiracy, would it?
The full record: opening round 0-0, 1-0, 0-0, 0-0; knockout
final 1-1 (3-1 penalties); semifinal 1-0; final 1-0 over Wanderers
AFC. The bhoys' top and only goalscorer was our gun striker from Iceland,
Halle, while Miura-san was outstanding all day in knocking up a bunch
of clean sheets (Boruc are you paying attention??). Credit also to
Ferg and Lubo for keeping a rock-solid defence, along with everyone
else who played a part, and a big thank you to Alec for organising
our participation!
The event raised over 500,000 yen for UNICEF, and we
look forward to doing it again next year!

The Tokyo CSC gets ready to rumble

Celtic huddle before the 1st game

Ferg puts his feet up for a well-earned breather
(he was even turning out for the Kanto Celts!)

Appearances can be deceptive - even Ante looks the
part!
